Description

The present drawing is characteristic of Bison’s architectural designs. The frieze of acanthus, the eagle, the putti, the bust in a medallion and the figure of a seated woman were often employed elements in Bison’s architectural drawings. The British Museum and the Pinacoteca Nazionale Bologna possess similar sheets made in connection with the decoration of ceilings. The present drawing was probably also conceived in function with an architectural design.
