Description
Watercolor thus became an interesting technique for the artist. Easy to transport, it allows you to work directly on the pattern in nature; transparent, it reflects the whiteness of the paper and allows you to play with its luminosity; widely diluted, it spreads on the paper while avoiding details. In the present drawing, the foliages of the trees are worked in large flat areas of yellow, red, orange, rather than in a multitude of detailed leaves. The brightest areas, such as certain parts of the tree trunks or the sky, are left in reserve. Allongé also finely scrapes the watercolor to reveal tall, luminous grass in the whiteness of the paper.
