Paris 1745 - 1800
Louis Rolland Trinquesse was a French painter and draftsman active in Paris in the 18th century. He studied at the Royal Academy from 1758 to 1770, winning several prizes there, but never succeeded in joining. Archives also mention him as a student and protégé of the history painters Noël Hallé and Louis Lagrenée. Louis Rolland Trinquesse worked as both a portrait and genre painter, favoring gallant scenes of love and banter in parks and gardens. He exhibited at the Salon de la Correspondance from 1779 to 1787 as well as at the Salons of 1791 and 1793 which welcomed, in those years, submissions from artists who were not members of the Academy.
