Hans Jakob Nüscheler

Zürich 1583 – 1654 Zürich

Hans Jakob Nüscheler studied the art of stained glass with his father, Heinrich Nüscheler, and became a master in 1612. The Nüschelers, with the Murer workshop, became the most important glass painters in Zurich around 1600. From 1636 to 1644, all the glass and cabinets of the municipal council were designed and painted exclusively by Hans Jakob Nüscheler, who supervised a large workshop in which his sons also worked. Although his glass production was very important, Nüscheler's designs are rare.
